Why We Love FreedomPop

FreedomPop is one of StackSocial’s coolest partners for an array of reasons. The team at StackSocial loves helping other passionate and hungry technology companies achieve their goals & dreams. Taking on the telecom industry is not for the faint of heart. LA startups and Silicon Beach startup culture is about ecommerce, fashion, entertainment, and disrupting the notion that ALL good tech companies are in SF. FreedomPop is one of our local startups that has the potential to make a name for Silicon Beach. The guys at FreedomPop have a mission to change the face of telecom and this clarity of mission/purpose is seen in all their products.

Here is a great interview on This Week in Startups with the one of the FreedomPop guys:

As you can see, we love FreedomPop because they have super innovative disruptive products, they are based in LA, and they have big ambitions. How is it that an LA startup is able to disrupt a billion dollar industry like telecom? The answer can be found in the book The Innovator’s Dilemma. Small companies are able to focus and come up with creative solutions to big challenging problems while massive companies like Verizon are focused on pleasing Wall Street and beating the next earnings report. I believe FreedomPop is in a prime position to accomplish their mission and we are stoked to be able to help them!

Got to have a Steve Jobs quote when you are talking about innovation…

“Innovation has nothing to do with how many R&D dollars you have. When Apple came up with the Mac, IBM was spending at least 100 times more on R&D. It’s not about money. It’s about the people you have, how you’re led, and how much you get it.”

Currently we are running a FreedomPop Phone promotion and this deal is truly innovative and disruptive. While all of us iPhone users are stuck paying $100/month for our service, this FreedomPop Phone (HTC Evo) only costs $159 for the entire year. Granted a data hungry nerd will probably go over  the data plan a few times throughout the year. So let’s just say the StackSocial FreedomPop phone deal will really cost you $199 for a year of full on phone action. This is a several thousand dollar savings! This is definitely the cheapest smartphone plan you will find.

For a sneak peak, we are launching this FreedomPop Hotspot promotion on Jan 1 as well. In conclusion we love FreedomPop and know our Stackers will as well.
